Troubleshooting

authright: command not found

  1. Reinstall: npm install -g @authright/cli@latest
  2. Run authright --version
  3. Fix PATH / pnpm global bin / nvm version as needed

See Installation.

No .authright/ found

Run authright init (or pass --path).

Init didn't create Cursor / Claude / Codex files

Check --tools (cursor, codex, claude). Then authright update after upgrades.

Slash command missing

Confirm init/update wrote:

  • Cursor: .cursor/commands/auth-scan.md → type /auth-scan (filename, not /auth:scan)
  • Claude Code: .claude/commands/auth/scan.md → type /auth:scan
  • Codex: .agents/skills/authright-scan/SKILL.md → type $authright-scan

If Claude still has a flat .claude/commands/auth-scan.md from an older CLI, run authright update so the nested auth/ folder is written and the flat file is removed. Then restart Cursor if you just installed skills/commands.

to-openspec fails because the folder exists

Pass --force only when you intend to overwrite. Editing changes.

change --analyze refuses the change

--analyze refuses post-ANALYZED states that would regress. Check authright change <id>.

change --ready fails

Need all of:

  1. ≥1 accepted decision with type: architecture|technology
  2. Non-empty contract.md
  3. Accepted type: engineering with engineering_strategy.mode: keep_style (silent at --ready; no Keep vs Centralize choose). Pending tech/arch chooses also block. Recommended is not a default.

See Editing changes and Reviewing decisions.
